Northamptonshire Wedding Photography at the historic Fawsley Hall

Harbury Wedding
I arrived at Rowena’s house in Harbury near Southam in Warwickshire What I found was a house in jovial spirit the most beautiful weather day of the year so far. I could not have asked for more and as a reportage wedding photographer, conditions were perfect. One of my favourite photographs of the day was while Rowena was having her make-up done and her father appeared in the doorway to drink his champagne. It was a real split second composition as I was not prepared for him, but looking back at the photograph, I love how it captures the mood of the morning. With Rowena’s mother and best friend looking on, the make-up scattered around and Rowena looking on at her father down his drink. In one shot I was able to convey atmosphere, detail and even a little comedy to help create a special photograph for the bride & groom.
I left Rowena to finish her preparations and went on to the church nearby to catch up and photograph a nervous Jonathan. The guests were beginning to arrive, the sun was shining and the daffodils were blooming. I had my usual talk to the priest to establish the ground rules for the wedding photographer in Northamptonshire. Vicars or Priests can be a little sticky about wedding photography but at the All Saints Church in Harbury, Reverend Groocock was very accommodating and had a very modern, forward thinking approach which I found refreshing. The bride & groom spend a lot of money on everything to do with their wedding and in my mind, they need a record of it. This is not to mention getting the most out of their photographer, which in most cases is not cheap. The Reverend granted me free reign to move around his beautiful church as long (it goes without saying) as I was respectful of the service. This freedom enabled coverage of the wedding in its entirety, affording me the opportunity to explore various angles and viewpoints to ensure a wonderful set of photographs for the Bride & Groom. There was lovely, soft, side-lighting illuminating the church which created a glorious atmosphere which when coupled with the stunning back drop of the Church itself made photographing this wedding very easy.
Fawsley Hall Wedding Reception
After the ceremony and usual hugs and kisses, we headed over to Fawsley Hall near Daventry in Northamptonshire. This is absolutely gorgeous venue steeped in history. This is the kind of venue of venue I had dreamed of shooting at during my years doing weddings in Cyprus. The quintessential English country manor house which oozes with heritage, class and beauty. The grounds themselves were a magnificent and created many photo opportunities for the romantic shoot. However, my favourite shoot was in Fawsley’s Great Hall. I particularly enjoyed the creating of photographs that captured the atmosphere of this dimly lit, regal main room of the house. This is what inspired me to capture a shot of Rowena & Jonathan in front of the grand fireplace as if they were the Duke & Duchess of Fawsley Hall itself. I very much enjoyed working in a venue such as this and would love the chance to visit again.
